Who ate all the nuts? Squirrel munchkin has already had his Christmas treats

This chap looks as if he's been squirreling away too many nuts for the winter.

And the tubby squirrel appears to be posing a serious danger to the branch of this pine tree.

However, he is still fit enough to scurry around the back garden of a tour guide in Michigan whose feeding stations are clearly stocked generously.

James Phelps, 51, a father of two, became fond of the squirrel since it began to visit him and managed to catch him in a variety of poses on his camera.

He said: 'Most of the photos were taken early in the morning when the squirrel is most active and hungry after waking up.

'He became used to me being around and probably associated me with food. I set up feeding stations in the backyard and would bring the food out early and than photograph him.

'I would usually feed him myself, but sometimes my wife would help out. She also became fond of him too, because he's so cute.

'He became used to us and many mornings he would be waiting for me to bring out the food, lounging on the deck looking into the house.

'After setting out the food, I would get ready to photograph and get the best shots when he would stand and beg for more food or run around and chase other squirrels.

'He makes a great subject, he has great expressions, was curious, and very smart.'

James, from Michigan, America, added: 'He's the best fed squirrel in Michigan and I guess that's the reason he got so big.'
