Amanda Holden bears more than a passing resemblance to Star Trek's Borg Queen as she gets measured for Shrek fat suit

Amanda Holden bore more than a passing resemblance to Star Trek's Borg Queen in a picture she posted of herself getting measured for her Shrek fat suit.

The 39-year-old star, who is six months pregnant with her second child, was wearing a bald cap and having blue cream smeared all over her as the professionals tried to make her look fat for her upcoming role in Shrek: The Musical.

Amanda, who will play Princess Fiona in the show, tweeted the picture with the caption: 'Don't be scared!'

She later told fans she was angling for a part in Doctor Who with her new look, tweeting: 'Maybe if they see that pic of me getting ready for my Shrek Princess Fiona Fat suit, Dr Who may also cast me!!'

With the blue mixture being applied to her upper body and on her head, Amanda looked more than a little like Star Trek's Borg Queen, portrayed in the 2002 movie by actress Alice Krige.

Amanda is due to start in Shrek: The Musical in May, and says the role won't be affected by her pregnancy, despite the fact she is due to give birth just two months earlier.

The TV presenter has also been working hard on ITV show Britain's Got Talent, taking her place on the judging panel this week between comedian Michael McIntyre and Louis Walsh, who is standing in for David Hasselhoff.

Referring to previous judge Piers Morgan, who has now moved to America, tweeted earlier this week: 'Its going well! Micheal (sic) is doing a grand job and Louis is ace of course! Piers who?!!!!'

She later added: 'Home! Knackered.

'Eaten too many sweeties. Great first day. Loving the new boys!!!'

And it seems the array of weird and wonderful wannabes always present at the auditions are entertaining the judge, as she tweeted the following day: 'Been quite a good afternoon! A few stand out acts!!

'Fabulous afternoon!!! Ace acts! Lots of great kids!'
