Jason Gardiner reveals surgeon's pre-operative photograph after £22,000 hair transplant

Jason Gardiner excitedly revealed his new luscious locks of hair on last night’s Dancing On Ice final, but now the pictures behind the amazing surgery have been released.

The 39-year-old’s hair transplant was a lengthy process, including an eight-hour operation and then waiting almost a year for the results to grow through.

But Jason was grinning from ear to ear last night as he uncovered the spectacular transformation that cost him a cool $35,000 (£22,000).

The ITV show judge has revealed his pre-operative photograph that shows the surgeon’s markings of where the transplanted follicles were placed

Jason yesterday admitted that his baldness sparked a spiral of self-hatred and depression and says the transplant is ‘not something to be ashamed of’.

‘Because I am a public personality, if my story can help other people that are going through what I went through, then that’s great’, he said.

Jason’s hairy success story began when he visited The Hospital Group in London’s Harley Street, where he met Dr Craig Ziering.

The surgeon took tissue from the back of Gardiner’s head, which supported strong growth, and then grafted the hair follicles to the balding parts of the scalp.

Dr Ziering said they were luckily able to cover the entire zone that they wanted to and Jason is ecstatic with his new look.

Jason's expensive operation was performed in Los Angeles but the surgery is available in the UK also.

A spokesperson from The Hospital Group told the Mail Online: ‘Jason's cost $35,000 because he had the platinum service, which means the whole surgery unit was closed down for him, so no one else had surgery that day.

‘The hair transplant is performed in the UK too though and costs range between £3,250 and £9,000, depending on the number of grafts need and the density of thickness wanted.’

After the operation it usually takes between five and 10 months for the new hair to become visibly fuller and in Jason’s case, he waited nine months before showing off his do.

And the star told his 60,000 followers via Twitter yesterday: ‘I will have a second one in order to get back all the hair I lost.

‘The medical technology these days is just remarkable! It’s quite miraculous what they can do these days.

‘Dr Ziering is a genius! X Thank you I’m very happy with the results.’

Gardiner surprised Dancing On Ice viewers last night when he took his hat off and said to contestant Laura Hamilton: ‘Laura I have to say I take my hat off to you – incredible!

Surprised co-host Holly Willoughby gasped afterwards: ‘I’m almost speechless about what was under the hat!

Dr Ziering has more than 19 years of experience as a hair transplant surgeon based in Southern California, in Beverly Hills, Newport Beach and Las Vegas.
