- There is an untold story from the Aurora, CO massacre. Meet Christina Blanche. Christina and Farrah Soudani were a part of the Red Robin group that went to the midnight showing that night. Six of the twelve in that group were injured. One girl lost her life. Christina and Farrah were injured the worst. Christina is a long time Chivette and an Air Force Vet.
When the shooting started everybody hit the floor. Christina ‘Crispy’ had no place to go. She remained standing, facing the killer. He fired. One bullet shattered her right femur, passed through and lodged into her left knee, dislodging the knee cap. The second penetrated her severely wounded right leg.
Her friend, Danielle Wik described the unbelievable events that followed:
“Here’s where the badass kicks in, John. When the police officers came into the theater Crispy was totally calm. In the chaos where these severely wounded, terrified, people were crying out desperately for help, Crispy lay on the ground with her makeshift blood stop and kept it together. She lost half her blood. The police officer who responded to her later told us that, “It was Crispy that kept me calm.” In a room full of screaming people the officer walked in and saw young blond woman, lying in her own blood, telling him to help the others, patiently waiting her turn. Every time he looked at her and asked him how she was she told him she was fine and to help the other victims. The officer told me that she was the only reason that kept him under control. “If this girl could keep calm through all of that, I knew I could”. He told me on the phone that he had never met another person like her.”
Danielle contacted me and said Christina was a big fan of theCHIVE and wanted nothing from the Chivers but their support and maybe a care package, “Crispy doesn’t have much family here. I just know that her seeing the out pouring of total strangers will make her recovery more bearable.”
So we put together a monster care package and sent it her way. She received it this week. This is the email I received from Danielle.
