On Tuesday we posted the best BBQ joints in 'Merica according to theCHIVE and asked for your input on the follow-up. Here is the list that the Chivers came up with.
- Blacks BBQ – Lockhart, TX – A lot of Chivers mentioned Blacks. Try the sausage, juicy, with a crispy smoked exterior. The staff is really friendly.
- Smokey Pig BBQ – Bowling Green, KY – The hidden gem of Bowling Green. Get the pork shoulder covered in hot vinegar sauce. Also, that RC sign is friggin’ awesome
- Phil’s BBQ – San Diego, CA – The El Toro (tri-tip) Burger is considered one of the best sandwiches in America
- 4Rivers Smokehouse – Orlando, FL – 4Rivers has one of the most dedicated cult followings of any food around. Tourists in Orlando will see the 4R bumper stickers everywhere. Get the BBQ Brisket Sandwich
- Dreamland BBQ – Tuscaloosa, AL. Order the ribs. USA Today Ranked top 10 in the nation. USA Today kind of sucks unless you’re flying, in which case it’s awesome
- Archibalds – Northport, AL – Rib Sandwich – Small hometown rib joint with loyal following that rivals Dreamland as best in Alabama
- Red Bones – Somerville MA – Baby Back Ribs – The number of reviews for Redbones on Yelp is approaching twice the number of reviews for Fenway Park.
- Skylight Inn BBQ – Ayden, NC – Barbecue tray (Slaw, Corn Cake, Pork) cooked slow over wood and it shows. Cornbread is made from an 1830 recipe.
- R.U.B. BBQ Pub – Detroit. MI – Most popular are the St. Louis-style ribs, cut to perfect slices, with just enough char around the edges from the grill give them some character.
- Rendezvous – Memphis, TN – Rendezvous serves only dry ribs. They cook the ribs over charcoal for a couple of hours, baste them with a hot vinegar and water mixture, and then apply a generous amount of rub.
- Fat Matt’s – Atlanta, GA – Fat Matt’s is one of the best places for ribs in Atlanta. At night it’s a great place to catch the Blues
- Montgomery Inn – Cincinnati, OH – Get the slab of Ribs and share (if you have to), the view here is amazing as well
- The Shed – Gulfport, MS – Combo Plate – Nothing fancy, not expensive, but it’s delicious. Ribs are so tender the meat falls of the bone
- McMlard’s BBQ – Hot Springs, AR – Chopped Pork – Hacked and brushed with hot sauce, every fiber of meat is savory.
- Woody’s Smokeshack – Des Moines – Meat pulls dry off the St. Louis style ribs, topped off with crisp coleslaw, baked beans, and light corn bread. Hungry yet?
- Scotts BBQ – Hemingway SC – Smokes on average 6 hogs a day and uses a sweet and spicy vinegar sauce. If you are a true BBQ fan and are looking for authentic southern BBQ, Scott’s is not to be missed.
- Country Boy’s BBQ – Cashmere, WA – Slow Roasted BBQ with generous portions. Also get an order of the ribbon fries with some fresh squeezed lemon aid to wash it down
