Feeling a bit bloated, Amy? Winehouse shows signs of overindulgence as she lets it all hang out by the pool

She might have been drug-free for over a year now.

But Amy Winehouse seems to have sought other vices in recent months which by the looks of things could be alcohol and too much food.

The singer showed signs of overindulgence as she - quite literally - hung out by her hotel pool in Rio de Janeiro yesterday, her pot belly sticking out over her denim shorts.

The 27-year-old's protruding stomach could be a sign of too much drinking over Christmas and New Year.

Of course, just like most of us, it could also be a result of far too much to each over the festive period.

Or she might have just been feeling a little bloated from a huge breakfast that morning.

Amy was snapped walking round the grounds of the £700-per-night Santa Teresa hotel in the Brazilian city.

Amy is in the south American country for a five-gig mini tour and has already performed at the Summer Soul Festival appearance in Florianópolis last Saturday night.

Last night, she left Rio and was seen jetting off to Recife to continue the tour.

And she looked a little unsteady on her feet as she and her friend made their way into the airport at Rio to catch their flight, giggling to each other.

At one point, Amy looked like she was being steadied by a member of her security entourage.

And while most people - celebrities included - settle for comfy clothes to travel in, Amy' short leopard-print dress couldn't have been less suitable.

And she barely had any colour on her even though she has spent every day lying by the pool.

The star, who looks in better health than she has done in years jetted out to the tropics after seeing in the New Year in London, and checked into the hotel in the hills overlooking Rio's Guanabara Bay as her base while she plays five nights in the country.

Wearing a khaki bandeau bikini top and her ubiquitous cut-off denim shorts, the singer was a world away from the emaciated, grey-skinned girl that stalked the streets of Camden more than a year ago.

It's rumoured that as well as being happy that she's finally back playing live, she is apparently pocketing a £5million cheque for just five shows

Amy is insisting that she has been clean and drug free for a year, after seeing a photo of herself last January looking wild and messed up.

She previously said of the picture, which showed her pale, gaunt and covered in cuts: 'I thought: "Girl, you've got sort yourself out or you'll be dead soon".'

However, being clean hasn't yet resulted in the hoped-for burst of creativity, with the only new material announced so far a song which will feature on Quincy Jones's new tribute album Q: Soul Bossa Nostra.

A follow-up to her smash-hit 2006 second album Back To Black has been in the pipeline for the past four years, but the singer's personal battles have hitherto got in the way of her progressing with her recording career.

However, now that she seems physically back to her best and having turned in some good comeback performances so far in Brazil, there are high hopes that her new album will see the light of day as planned in 2011 - giving Amy even more to grin about.

The star received some rave reviews for her Summer Soul Festival appearance in Florianópolis on Saturday night.

She belted out a number of tunes from her back catalogue as well as a number of covers dressed in in a pink and white gingham dress which boosted her surgery-enhanced assets.
